Default Pettibone-Mercury GS-60 Forklift Mast Cylinder

Hey everyone, we have this pettibone-mercury forklift model number GS-60. Our biggest issue is that we're disassembling the mast cylinder to reseal it. But we cannot get past the brass head/guide.

The snap ring has been removed and we've tried almost every method under the sun to finish the disassembly. I was just really hoping if anyone on here knew about them or how to fully tear the cylinder apart that would be much appreciated.

We're stumped and figuring it must be rust build up causing it to seize as we found the cylinder had been left up right in the weather for 20 years collecting rain water internally.
