Some info here:
http://www.wiengines.com/support_repair_spec/13

Many parts will be the same as the regular S8. I think I have a paper manual around here some where, if you are not in a hurry I can probably scan it.

Not a common engine.

You do not see vertical shaft Wisconsin engines everyday. I have only seen one HBKN, never the HACN or the HAENL. Its good to know there are HS8's out there too! Please restore her to its former glory!

If anyone has the parts/repair manual please post it!

I'm curious to see the internal parts breakdown.
Never got to see one of these up close or inside before!

Snapper made a 41" cut rider in their early years, but I don't know if a Wisconsin engine was installed on them at the factory.

Snapper used a 1" x 3 5/32" straight crankshaft engine. I don't remember them ever using a Wisconsin cast iron engine. I think the engine in question was used by Bolens but I am not sure. Our family was a Snapper distributor from 1957-1985 and a Snapper dealer until 2 years ago.

And yes, that looks like a Snapper hub.

I found a reference to that engine being used by Bunton, same as the HS-7D.

After looking for a long time I found a dealer that had one and was kind enough to let me borrow it, I uploaded it on Gttalk

Its basically the same manual as an S8D with just a special few pages added to it, no service info or pictures of the actual engine they include the stock S8D engine service pages in the manual so I did not include that in this PDF.
