Default What did I just buy?

Just picked this up at a swap meet, anyone know what it is? It has "minor" on both sides of cover. I would also like a rough idea of when it was made. Thanks in advance

Its a British made engine early fifties

I just had A look at Peter Hunn's book on old out boards He claims that the Minor was 3/4 Hp and there were also 11/2 hp and 4 hp singles made under the name Anzani. They also made a 10hp and a 15 hp both twins. This brand never caught on in the US during the fifties. Sounds like they may have also made some racing engines....

Thanks for the reply. I got it running, but to replace the lower crank bearing and seal some cutting of stuck parts was required Now has a wooden base and will soon have an electric water pump. I will try to remember to post pics once done.

Here's a link to a recent discussion on the AOMCI [Antique
