Default Wisconsin Single

Looking for information on this Wisconsin single. Tag is missing.

The electric starter was installed by the PO. It's off an outboard motor.

Thanks!

Zira nailed it. To add to what he said, these are 12HP engines and are about as good an engine as you can find in that power rating. With just a bit of care and proper use they will last forever. The clutch is a nice feature as well.

If you start using the engine, be sure to get the proper sheet metal cover over the starter pinion. You'll be losing cooling air otherwise.

Thanks Zira and s100. Good call on the cooling shroud. I'll do something about that.

I got it running today. It hasn't run in years apparently but with a bit of coaxing she fired up. Really liking that electric start :-) The gear won't shift so I'll be tearing into that.

Is there a manual available somewhere for download?

Hi

I would recommend not running it any longer until you remove the oil pan and make sure the oil pump is working.

That engine used a plunger type oil pump and the check balls have a bad habit of sticking to the seat causing it to not pump.

Thanks Phil P. I assumed this would be splash lubricated. I know nothing of these engines. Thanks again.

Actually you are both right. The oil pump pumps the oil up into a little trough, where the connecting rod splashes it around just like you'd expect.
