Default Parts Sales Fraud

Patrick Ertel from Antique Power magazine here. I usually just read the posts here, but I'm trying to get the word out so I'm posting this everywhere I can. We have gotten 20 or so reports of an individual in Western Pennsylvania who is selling parts he does not have. It started years ago, died down while he was in jail, but he's out now and ripping people off at an alarming rate. The police seem to be too busy to get serious about stopping him, so we're going to have to get the word out to everyone. Please tell everyone in your club and all your friends to NEVER buy truck, tractor, or engine parts with a money order or money transfer unless you know the seller well. Especially look out for sellers in western Pennsylvania who insist on some kind of non-reversable payment and claim they will deliver the parts to you. The way to recognize this fraud is that he won't accept checks or paypall, doesn't want to meet you in person, and always seems to have a truck headed your way so he can deliver the part. Of course, once he has the money you never see the truck and never see the part. I won't list any of the names he uses because this isn't my forum and I don't want to step on any toes. You can visit the antique power website antiquepowermagazine.com and go to our facebook page for more info. This guy has cheated dozens of people out of thousands of dollars and he needs to be stopped. Thank you. Patrick Ertel, editor Antique Power magazine.

Question Re: Parts sales Fraud

Anyone here on the Stak had similar problems, so we can air this one out? Hate to see people getting ripped off.

Mr. Ertel,
And all enthusiasts,
I read the warning in Antique Power on this ruthless crook.
This cheating liar has burned bridges he will never be able to put back up. He will suffer many years for his deceitful actions and he desrves it!
I want to remind everyone that this person is not a collector. He is not an enthusiast that loves and preserves history. In an effort to remain positive here I would suggest that we continue to enjoy the fact that tractor people are good people, collectors are great folks, History buffs and restoration artists make the best of friends.
This one bad person will destroy himself in short order, but he can never take away unity and pride that all of us enjoy with one-another
Tony

I had trouble with a guy by the name of Bill Stevenson from western Pa. If this is the guy contact the District Attorney in Greensburg, PA. at 724-830-3272.

We have 4 or five names for him at at least that many addresses. He operates out of the Pittsburgh area, from as far north as Sharon and south to North Belle Vernon. He seems to have three or four people working with him. We've contacted the police in every town we've traced him to. They know about him, but don't have a lot of enthusiasm for stopping him for some reason. It may be because they don't work across jurisdictions and Stevenson operates out of several towns.

If that's the case he ought to get nailed by the U. S. Postal Service for fraudulently accepting payments through the mail.......

BTW.......I'm an Antique Power subscriber too.......

I think we all need to find this man and maybe persuade him into not ripping people off again?? If he cant sign his name to the money orders, he cant cash them can he??

Sound like the only you will get any action out of the dount shop boys is to make a nusance of yourself with the DA or state AG. Also, the postmaster usually takes an interest in this kind of thing. If the names are avaliable, why not post them? Kind of like the feedback system on Ebay.

Mr.Patton,
You maybe should contact that gentleman you mention again regarding the fenders. He has been into that for many, many years and I think is a straight shooter. I have heard that delivery times might vary somewhat though!

Mr. Patton, Bob Lefever and I are close friends, have been for years. Bob is a 100% honest person and good fellow. At times he may get overwhelmed and a bit off track but don't we all. If you need help getting your fenders or contacting Bob, please PM me and I'll help you. I can understand your concern but believe me, Bob is a man of his word. Thanks Fred Mellott, New Enterprise, PA
