That auction had some nice stuff! I wonder what the wagon brought, I couldn't find a price. I took some decent pics of the remains of the lettering on an original Standard Oil wagon if someone needs them. I just bought an oil wagon for myself and it turned out to be a FINA instead of SO. I didn an internet search and found nothing, anyone seen a FINA before? Thanks

Here is a nice period picture of a horse drawn gasoline tanker. The small sign by the front wheel says "HAVOLINE OIL". It is in front of a KING automobile dealer. Kind of ironic, a horse pulled tanker delivering gas for automobiles. Must be in the middle teens. The KING had a V-8 engine from 1915 to the end in 1923.

Have been looking for info about horse drawn oil delivery wagons as I own one and do not know anything about them. Have pictures I could email someone in hopes they could tell me exactly what I own. In looking for information about this wagon is how I found this site

Welcome aboard.

I can't tell you a whole lot about them myself, and the older gentleman that bought the one at the Dakota Sale Barn auction isn't on this site, but maybe some of the other posters on this thread may be able to help you out.

Just incase anyone's wondering how the oil tank turned out that sold at the auction last September....

Here's a couple shots of it at the Threshing Show in Freeport Illinois this weekend.

That turned out very nice, I have restored several but sadly non of the Standard ones were for myself. I sure would like one to go with my truck. Two of them I restored had serial numbers on the tank and I wonder if anyone out there has Standards records so you could find where the wagons were orignally shipped? Both of them had been originally pained silver with the same type of logo as the the one above only with slightly different stripes, both wagons had differnt sripes and one had an ad for Rayo lamps that I believe Standard was pushing about 1915? Great wagon, be proud of it!

Avery -

Do you have any pictures of the wagons you restored that you could post? Also - what was the location of the s/n on the tank - I'd like to check my wagon and see if it has one in the same place.

Tom
