Default Old military Onan EAK-1

Looking for information on ignition timing. I marked and removed the ignition
plate to replace a gasket and on replacing the plate I found that I had cleaned
off one of the marks. Does anyone have information on how to time the
engine ? The generator is 12-14 volts, 400 watts and was built for the Navy in 1943. Thanks in advance for any help. Lee Z
