Default LESLIE Supertyfon Train Horn (Whistle) S-2M-R (Horn #’s 31 & 44) Found

A couple weeks ago, at the “FLEA” market, I saw a guy, that had pulled out of a pile of “stuff”, a 5 bell Leslie train horn. He was trying to negotiate a lower price than the cheap (I thought) asking price of $75. I was waiting for him to put it down, but he didn’t and the seller gave in and sold it to him for $65 . The buyer walked away quickly with his prize, and I didn’t get a chance to look it over . Man, what a “MISS” (not a “HIT”) that day, as I have never seen one at any “FLEA” market. Now I’m on the “HUNT” for one to add to my small Railroadiana collection, and to use on my IHC ACAC compressor engine https://www.smokstak.com/forum/showt...32#post1424232 .

Anyway, the next week at the “FLEA” market as I was walking around coming up to a friends table, what did I see on the top of his truck – ANOTHER, different Leslie train horn that he just bought from a different vendor that had one last week? After some negotiations back and forth, I heard later, that my friend has seller’s remorse , but says it went to a good home. What are the chances of two Leslie train horns from different sellers, showing up at the same “FLEA” market two weeks in a row . I got it home, and couldn’t wait , to make up an air line adapter with a triggered air blow gun, put on my ear muffs, pulled the trigger and WOW, it sounds like a train horn, and is it “L O U D” . OLDIHC is just having "FUN", even in NJ on the way through.

If I had that, it would be on my truck some place. It is probably good that I don't.

Thumbs up Re: LESLIE Supertyfon Train horn (whistle) S-2M-R (horn #’s 31 & 44) found.

I always wanted one to run off my Ingersol-Rand 3 R-36 air compressor. If you bring the horn to Jacktown or Washington Crossing, I will give a blow for you! The 3 R-36 makes 125 PSI of air - is that enough? Nice find. I wish there was a good flea market near Rockaway!

Andrew: THANKS: I've read they will operate on as low as 40psig . I blew this on my home compressor at around 120psig . Having a "FLEA" market close to home , F-S-Sun does create "storage" , and other problems , with having "FUN", even in NJ, on the way through

Very lucky find. I have been waiting for something like this to show up with no luck. I did get an offer from one loco scrapper though. He wanted $400 for a set of horns from a SD40-2. I thought it was a bit high for supposedly being weight based prices.

Right now I would settle for a electronic locomotive bell. I could get a DC-DC converter to run it off of Fleabay.

One of these days.
