Default Forney 180 Welder/Reverse Polarity Rods

First of all I'm not a professional welder but have done some TIG /tool steel welding back in my Tool & Die, Mouldmaker days. Have run a Lincoln 225 AC forever in my home shop with good results using 6013 & 7014. Recently came across an old Forney 180 welder with the plug in leads. Has anyone run 7018 DC reverse polarity rods on a welder like this? I know it's still an AC welder but would the leads being reversed allow me to run this rod? Also know there's a 7018 AC rod available but I have a source for the DC rods. TIA.

Sorry, changing the plugs won't reverse the polarity because its still AC.

Most AC welders won't push 7018 rod, they have 7018 AC rod but I'm not a fan of it.
