Great picture of nice vertical sideshaft. Is this similar to the National Chief ,or any connection to White-Middleton ?

I don't think there is any relationship to White & Middleton. The White Gasoline Engines were made by Globe Iron Works of Menomonie Wis. There are only three of these verticals known to exist and they are consecutive engine numbers.
