How many times have you driven past an old barn and noticed the cupola on top of the barn. Every wonder how big they are? Here is a picture of the Cupola that is going to go on the new building in Crosby. You don't realize the size of them until you are next to it!

A few words regarding the Divide County Historical Society's annual threshing and engine show. There are many gas tractors, steam engines, stationary engines on display running and running good at the show. This is because all the good fellows that come and run them and fix things when needed. If it wasn't for the help we get taking care of the equipment there would be no show. They come from far and wide to help out and pay their own expenses. All work together at no pay and help out where ever needed. Most of them have come for many years. You will never find better bunch of engine men at any other show. Same goes for the sawmill crew, horsemen, military vehicles and automobiles. They all are what makes the show what it is today. The Divide County Historical Society owes a big THANK YOU to all of them. John Tysse Jr, Crosby, ND

One event that comes before the show is Spring Startup Days in either the last part of May or the first part of June. This year it is June 7 and 8. It is more laid back and much is accomplished. I have seen cast iron welding, a stuck Rumely freed up and running and smaller problems solved.

It is my goal to bring up the Proney Brake My friend and I are building. Hope to get it finished soon and do some test trials with it first. If everything goes according to plan, it will be there.

We should have a crew coming. We will likely be mixed up with some of the Manitoba crowd!
We are all looking forward to the show immensely.

Some of the early days of the show brings back a lot of good memories of the good times we had and the good fellows that came to help out and run engines. When we got the 25 Gaar Scott that we bought from Danny Roen in 1969 Harold Ottaway & Clarence Young took care of it. The next year and for several years Ray German, Oilmont, Mt. & Mort Christenson Conrad, Mt. teamed up and took care of it. A couple years later when got the 80 Case Don Bradley took care of it. All first class operators. Clarence Denser, Austin, Manitoba run the Big Four. Eddie Ireland, Binscarth Manitoba run the 45 Titan. Joe Tucker, Portage La Prairie, Manitoba run the 30-60 Model E Rumely. Ralph Burton, Vanguard, Sask run the Model B Rumely. Amy Giraud, Scobey, Mt run the 15-30 Rumely. Frankie Thompson Readlyn, Sask. run the 25-45 Sawyer Massey and his Dad Frank was with him. Clarence Harsch, Spokane, Washington run the 25 HP Titan. Jim Withers, Osakis, Minn run the Mogul Jr. Harold Ottaway run the 20 HP Type C IHC. Alvin Sanda along with his Dad Carl, Bonetrail, ND run the 20 HP Type B IHC. Tuff Longman, Maryfield, Sask run the 40-80 Avery Tony Homdrom Ambrose, ND run the 14-28 Avery. Ed Grindland Crosby & Henry Abels, Clay Center, Kansas took care of the separators. Wilfred Abels & Bill Krumwiede helped out where ever needed All did a good job and helped make the show what it is today. Are several more and will try and write more later

There will be a photo session Saturday night around the Case equipment at 8:00 o’clock. My daughter will be doing the capturing of the photos, we are doing this as a contribution to the 50th year for all the volunteers past and present to be included, for those that would like to be included in the photo please be at the Case equipment site at 8:00 o’clock. My daughter and I are willing to take names and addresses of people that would like a photo, emailed to them free of charge, if you want us to get a 8X10 or a 10X12 print there will the charge of the print and postage, we will not charge anything above the cost, this is our contribution to the volunteers of the show. Thank you all the volunteers past and present, Dean

Haven't seen anyone selling current magazines or subscriptions for same. There are a few flea market vendors selling old magazines and some literature. Nothing you would call organized. I believe all vendors have to make arrangements with the management.

Who should a person contact at the show for selling books, or doing a book signing session?
