Default Wisconsin THD Possible Trade?

If anyone is in the ri area, I just pulled a thd out of storage. I thought of getting it running but may just sell for parts. Not stuck, was running but governor/throttle linkage needs a spring or 2. Has some extra parts, gears/starter and a pto. The pto would not fit without shortening the shaft. Motor ran with a belt/pulley setup not pto. Maybe someone could use pto on another or use this crank as donor to cut down.
I guess I could sell parts but would prefer it to go as a package. Open to trades for rusty gold.

Let me try this

Update:Sorry I would trim out the extra text but I canít seem to find edit button on my phone

Also I can toss a compression tester on it also if needed, seems to puff great against the tape sealing the exhaust so I would guess no stuck valve so (as they may from sitting)

Just hate to part the old girl out and I have way too many projects

Made up some linkages and hit up the scrapyard for some parts to make a runner.

Got it spinning, a lot of afterfire and some backfire. Found the exhaust valves stuck open (common in this motor)

So now it seems the timing is 180 off or maybe 360 as the intake sounds like the exhaust. Switching the plug wires gets the puff out the exhaust. More to do

I would NOT cut the crankshaft to accommodate the clutch unit. Typically there are more differences between clutch engines and regular engines than just the crankshaft. If memory serves the rear bearing plate is different and maybe the crankcase.

There's not too many applications around that use those engines and most of them are plain output, making the engine easier to sell as is.

Thx s100
Maybe I will make up an adapter plate first before cutting. I doubt there is much of a market for the engine anyway. I will just part it out if I get to the point of selling

Too bad. I'd love to have a Wisconsin twin in my collection, but it would need to be local lol. Parting out is similar to scrapping. A lot of the parts won't sell and another one is destroyed. I could see it for one that had something serious wrong with it, but certainly not a runner.

Pulling the flywheel, looks like a different case around the oil seal on this engine vs the one the stator came off of. I will make a hub and adapter, pics to follow once i go though my scrap pile

Just a note, if you're going to load the engine be sure to put the screen back on the shroud as this is needed to get air flow past the vanes. Free running it is no problem without it.

Will do, I grabbed a screen from m the scrapyard.
I am missing one piece of tin on the back and the yard didnít have a spare. Shouldnít be hard to make something suitable. Iím not sure why Iím bothering but maybe it will make someone happy

I rebuilt one of those, years ago. Put new rods in it that used inserts, and new rings, etc. Put it on an air compressor tank that had a quincy on it. I used it for several years as I was racing and spent all money on the car.. Finally put an electric motor on the compressor. and sold the engine. It sure ran good, and was overkill for what the compressor needed but it was what I had. Mine was just a straight output shaft. That clutch assembly is probably worth as much as the engine.

yep, tried to save myself by selling the darn thing. I got issues. maybe it will be worth something to someone in the end. I have searched high and low around the home for something that needs a donor but I got nothing (unless I buy more rusty stuff=likely)

agree about the clutch/pto
not sure what they go for, I still plan to mount it on the motor and will hold off on cutting the shaft down. I will just make up an adapter plate.

Ok got the charging circuit up and running after a flywheel change and putting in the stator and various rectifiers, etc.
I am getting 34v AC off one wire and 22vDC off another, by the time it filters down it is 7-8vDC to the ammeter (2000 rpm.) Maybe this is a 6v system? Or bad rectifiers etc. this is the 3 unit system and it is hard to find anything about what I should see/read/test.
