6.9, Jack's grandson Mike may be able to shed some light on the "Hiding" patterns. I know where Jack's steamer went, but he also had a 1909 Cadilac and a "T" panel truck. Too many things that people have tried to preserve, end up getting lost and or junked. Either the folks that end up with them don't know what they have, they don't care or they price them so high that nobody else can afford them and they just rust away. Good luck on your quest. Norm

I have a 22-40 in the queue for restoration and will be needing pretty much the whole manifold. I think the upper pre-heater piece is OK but all the other parts are cracked.

This is an early version without the bypass valves on each side. Each end has the 90 degree piece instead.

If the price is right I would very much consider adding my name to the manifold list. Might even consider a spare if I get a volume discount

Thanks for all of the interest fellas. Mike just can't justify the expense based on the interest right now. If anyone else is interested in pursuing this, he may be able to help with parts or information. If anything should change in the future, I'll post here.

The cost would be roughly 5,000 a piece. If you could get more than 5 people interested, I would think it could be less.

C Simpson has made a manifold for his own 25-45 in the past. The patterns need a tweek here and there. He did this many years ago.
I talked too him today. He is busy as usual. I can try to coordinate a possible production of these manifolds if there really was a conrete
solid standing order. We did not talk price, I feel no need to with Charley. If the people that need one call him, I feel he would get flustered, and not do it. I am very good freinds with Charley, and I may be the link and the push to have them made or the parts of.

I am restoring a 22-40 and cannot seem to find if the manifold is the same as a 25-45. I hate to revive this old thread but hope someone can help me. Also wondering if anyone heard about the possible manifold casting by Charlie Simpson.

Hi Steve
This was all covered in posts relating to my 22-40, Tom Cwatch posted the details, to answer your question the manifold changed from tractor #52980, when the tractor finally changed model 22-40 to 25-45 there was really only a name change as all the actual changes had happened whilst it was still called a 22-40. Good luck with it, does it have the 15 way Detroit oiler or the Madison Kipp 4 way?

Best regards
Capone

I read that somewhere here but it said there was improvements to the manifold, but no mention if they were interchangeable. I has the big oiler. It needs a carb, or the rest of the parts for a Kingston L2 (I have the main body). I also need tanks, air cleaner. We have it running on a Zenith carb for now but you have to wear ear plugs since the manifold is coming apart. Did a little plowing with it last fall. Thanks for the help.

Hi Steve
I am sure they are interchangeable, but you really want the one without the heat valves and the diagonal pipes from there to the heat exchanger, i have a mixture, my heat exchanger was a complete wreck, i got a later style one from David Symington and currently we have just blanked off the side ports. Perhaps one day we will have one made. William Engelmann made me new water and petrol tanks and an aircleaner, these do not function with water but look the part from the outside.

Is that Phil's Huerlimann in the background?

Heard he got the Famous Sandra Burbidge Award

Yes Goerge, it is indeed Phil's Hurlimann in the back of Garry's workshop. That shot was taken before the Hurlimann was fully restored as you saw it at Newby.

Who or where has/is the pattern for it? Did Charlie Simpson have it?

Charlie Simpson had pattern & core box for a Case manifold (we think) and is having Can Do Metals cast six for him. I don't believe that I need one, but I'm going to check. Charlie may own the pattern so may need to deal with him. I'm having Can Do make some other castings and I just called him. Are the 22-40 & 25-45 the same?

I would be interested in a 25-45 manifold as well if they are being casted. Could you PM me who to contact to find out more information?

Thanks

Wow $5000.00 could fix alot of cracks and parts for that. Welded alot of old Cat manifolds that were in worse shape than that.
