Sorry I didn't get any pictures of the WD-40 project. I had a new camera that day and only had a 32 mb card. So filled up the card with Quincy pictures (I did save room for a couple of the new tractor) but plan on being in Fillmore this Sat and will try to get some photos of the WD-40. He does have the engine all together but still needs to check out the injection pump.

Here is the new tractor. This one belongs to the same owner as the Flour City. Kenny had it delivered when the Flour City was picked up. Once the Quincy is done I am sure work on the Russel will start. The tractor looks like a dandy. They have a radiator for it and the rest looks quit complete. I will try to get more pictures on Sat when we will be in Fillmore for a hockey game.

Is that the one that sold for 273,000 several months back? I'm sure it'll come out better than factory condition :P

Here are some pictures of Clydes IHC WD-40 project. First one of the engine. It is an early one and Clyde figures this may be one of the first diesel tractors to come to Saskatchewan.

Clyde was working on the injection pump on Saturday when I was there. He has two but this is the "GOOD" one!

Have a Merry Christmas!

Thumbs up Re: A trip to Clyde Hall's

Hi, thanks for the pix Kelly. looks like he has his work cut out for him on that one. sort of like we've had on our gas 40. not much was left un touched.
Its pretty interesting that Clyde, Dad and Mark Peterson(his came from his Uncle Norman) have been steam and large gas enthusiasts and known each other for many years and all ended up with WD-40s so close in serial #'s. I posted in the other thread but Marks is 633, Clydes 666 and ours 692. I wish we could come up with shipping records or something. it would be interesting to know if IHC sent a train load or two up here and dropped them off in the big centers like Winnipeg, Brandon, Regina or Saskatoon. Or maybe a small few started trickeling up here and then became popular? The guy we got ours from was the 3rd owner, but the original owners used it the most. he figured it had to be one of the 1st in Manitoba. but its tough to say exactly since its almost the 200th one made.
These tractors are starting to become pretty popular now as they are getting over 70 years of age.

Well said, Colin. It's nice that these old girls are finally getting some attention now that they are 70+ years old. Here's a picture from inside my shed that you all might enjoy, as long as we're on this topic.

Eric.

Kelly's been slippin' on the updates. Clyde and I just finished the WD-40. It's ready to go back to work. Rebuilt engine, injection pump, steering, brakes, drawbar, about everything. Now we're waiting for warmer weather so we can put it on the dyno and break it in. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Holy looks good Lyle! How did the first start go, can you start it with the crank now? were you able to buy that blue black grey or did you guys mix it from scratch?
We got our W-40 running last week. we bought it as a basket case from John last year. with a strait pipe it sounds like its developing about 250hp it actually sounds like the LINN gravel truck at Rollag, anyone heard that thing roaring around the grounds?

does this 40 have a Rd gear? our gas one has 4 land speeds. 1 &2 are slooow, 3rd and 4th are quite a bit faster.

Beautiful job, guys! If it runs as good as it looks, you're home free. Those big pumps are always an adventure. I look forward to the dyno results (after break in, of course).

It usually starts with 3 compressions, the first start up took about 5 or 6. It took off right away on diesel. It missed for a while but all it took to clear it up was advancing the timing. We originally had the color mixed up in Regina but after the first coat we weren't happy and threw some black in with it. We used it to pull the Quincy back in the shop yesterday.

Here is a quick update on the Quincy/Allwork. I stopped in last week to take a few pictures and a short visit. Clyde said that they had found a few things that had never been right on the tractor since new. There had been keys and keyways that had been machined incorrectly not allowing all three speeds in the transmission to be used. The engine has not been run yet but they are not far off! This tractor will stay in its working clothes!
