Thumbs down Re: New annual Arizona show

Nice move, this conflicts with Quartzsite engine show.

NAMPeters,

From what I understand, the Quartzsite people were not very accomodating and the fellow that pretty much headed that up has moved to this show - promising it to be bigger and better.

I was to Quartzsite last year, and while there was a reasonable variety and amount of engines, the accomodations were less than ideal. It was difficult to find the display area, not much was nearby, etc... As for the upcoming Quartzsite show, I've called a few different numbers provided and gotten nowhere. One person basically said that since the regular guy had pulled out they were just going to wing it and had no real plan -- that worries me.

I have debated between the two, and am thinking that this will be worth the extra 100 mile drive for me, as again, they are promising it to be bigger and better...

Very interesting!

Did you show or just spectated? I was there Saturday morning and got some good pictures to help in the Economy restoration.

A good swap meet sure would be nice. Thanks for the heads up.

I was just a spectator... Yes, there was a good variety of engines, but like I said - the facilities/location wasn't the greatest and it was difficult to find the show. Forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures of it...

To all that are part of the new EDGE&TA Branch 206 the best of luck and I hope your show is a success. I'm sure it will be as one of our highly respected person's from the Great Pacific Northwest makes thier home down that way now and most likely had a little to do with the formation of this branch.

Is the "regular" Welton show still scheduled for the 16th...and then this on the next weekend? Man...a lot going on with both weekends near Welton and also Quartzite all in the same couple of weekends if this is the case.

The Welton show is still Jan 16th lots of fun and all proceeds go to a good cause ( Yuma Regional Medical Foundation ) The New Branch 206 show is the following weekend Jan 23 -24 I-8 exit 37 just south and east of Welton. As for information about Quartsite the group that headed up the past shows are moving to Welton Jan 23-24 th. Lot more room and the ability to have a show and swap. See Flyer at begining of post for contact information. We hope to see all the past participants from Quartsite at this first annual event Southwest Forgotten Iron EDGE&TA BRANCH 206 Show

Sounds to me like you're intentionally trying to stomp on Quartsite?

Hburk,

In my opinion, Quartzsite was already stomped. After the passing of Howard Armstrong, subsequent owners/caretakers of the property didn't seem to give the engine collectors the consideration they deserved.

Gary was the moving force behind getting the engine collectors in to Quartzsite, so I don't think it's fair to suggest that he's in any way trying to undermine that event.

The Arizona Boys have a track record of putting together nice shows, so there is no reason to doubt that their new event will be anything less than a good time.

Rob

Just looks like "an intentional stomp to me". Why would you knowingly stack a new show date on top of another that close? Really don't give a damn, just curious.
