These people have one for $80 US. They seem very reasonable on their parts prices. https://vintagetractors.com/jddeng.html

What year Model D are you looking at ?
I have a 28 model that I will be looking at getting the cylinders and piston/rod assembly's out of for a mate in several weeks, is it likely to have a compatible camshaft ?

I have no idea what condition the camshaft is in, but I can have a look at that time and see if its in serviceable condition !

I have moved from my previous residence (passed on the farm to my brother and his son) so don't get up there as often as I would like ( I am now 300 Ks away) but will look when I can if it will work in your situation !

Graham, now in Bunbury, not Quairading (must change that in my profile) !

John,
I will have a look when I go up there in several weeks ! I have to give another mate a hand to get an old tractor going that he wants to take to the local show and its being a bit stroppy so will have an old tractor "fix" when I go up home.

How difficult would the cam be to get out, I don't have one to refer to down here but from memory it shouldn't take too long to extract would it ?

How soon do you need it ?

Graham

Thanks Jack, that certainly makes the procedure clear !

Sounds straight forward, so as I will be playing around with the engine anyway it shouldn't be too hard.

John,
Did you ever get a camshaft ?

I went up to the farm and my mate and I pulled the cylinder block pistons and rods out of the old parts "D" and I had a look at the cam while I was there. It does have some surface rust on it but as the cylinder head has been off it for decades it never got covered in water so I think it would clean up to a usable standard. I ran out of time to pull it out and if I need to get it out for you I will have to round up a bigger flywheel puller than I took up.

Just let me know if you need it still and how soon you would want it.

Graham
