Photo Donations Buying FOOS Type T for Coolspring Power Museum at Thornhill Auction

Many of us have pledged contributions of our money toward the purchase of the big 8 cylinder FOOS Type T engine being sold at the Doug Thornhill Auction this coming Saturday, to be transported for a permanent running display at the Coolspring Power Museum in PA. We all are hoping to save this rare engine for many current and future generations to get to see and hear run again. If you'd like to help contribute by pledging your donation, contact Jonah Close as he is spearheading this effort and he is our designated bidder representing us all. Jonah can be reached by phone at 814-873-2114.
PLEASE HELP SAVE THIS ENGINE FROM THE JUNK YARD! THANK YOU.

IF DONATIONS EXCEED EXPENSES ALL EXCESS MONEY WILL BE DONATED TO THE COOLSPRING POWER MUSEUM.

O.K. So, I guess that a donation can come in many forms; If I wave during the chattering of the auctioneer but only Once, please take that as my donation. My only stipulation is that it ends up on a concrete pad with a tin covered pavilion and the Exhaust open to the display.
I am surprised that a Museum can't settle with an Estate before the auction.? Sincerely, Lee

Jonah Close is not representing any museum. He, like the rest of us, are trying to preserve this engine. It's unfortunate certain persons have to be negative and small minded about a well intended purpose. Seems "No good deed shall go unpunished."

Cornpone makes a good point.
A collective agreement not to bid so it's just Jonah vs the scrappers will give him an edge.

Dad and I will not bid against him, our trailer can't carry that much...

Good luck Jonah!!

I was planning on taking this one home with me, but it sounds like it will be in good hands with the chance to see it run. If I don't bid the price may be in reach is what I was saying.

Ours IS NOT AN AGREEMENT NOT TO BID! We are FURNISHING Jonah the hope to buy the Foos for a gift to a museum.

The price of iron scrap is down right now. by the time a scrapper buys, cuts up and hauls, it might not be worth the trouble. Hopefully, that means the engine and generater can be saved. Good luck!
Andrew

I can report that Jonah bought the engine and it will be heading to Coolspring. I'm happy for the young man and can't wait to see it run again.
