Default Wico EK question

This mag has worked great for the 20+ years I have owned it. This year however it wouldn't run my engine. Here is what I know, I cleaned the oil film off the pole ends and filed the points and gapped them. It now will throw an 1/8 inch spark but no more. I noticed when the spark gap gets too big I see orange spark at the contacts. Also the plug wire contact on the left coil looks like it has been clocked wrong for years. The internals appear to be all original. Should I just do points and condenser or coils also. Magnetism feels plenty adequate to me.

Fire at the points generally indicates a bad condenser.

Steve I would try a new condenser and see if that makes a difference.

Orangish yellowish spark at points means the condenser is leaking and failing. Insulation in it is shot.

well tonight I put a new condenser in it and the same thing... weak 1/8 spark and any bigger on the gap causes sparks at the points. So I completely tore it apart and replaced everything. It now has more reliable spark but still weak, I tried it on the engine, nothing...... So I put my other ek on the engine and it started first try. At that point I put both mags on the bench and started to compare them. The mag that works I can not pull the armature off, too much magnetism. The failing mag I can so I am guessing the magnets are weak in the knees. Time to build a magnet charger..........
