Default Doug Peltzer Auction October 28, 2017

The Doug Peltzer Auction conducted by Aumann Auctions takes place this Saturday in Porterville, CA. Doug was a long time collector of John Deere tractors and then got into steel wheeled tractors and crawlers. The highlights are a Holt 75, Avery 40-80, Aultman Taylor 30-60, Sandusky 10-20, 25-50 Avery, 20-40 Case and lots of rare Deere tractors. Here is a link to the online bidding and auction catalog on Aumann's website:

I am interested to see what the Sandusky brings. I was at the sale where he bought it (2008 I believe). It brought BIG money then, $165,000 CAD. I'm not to sure what is going to happen this time around!

I saw. Quite the difference in price, even with the USD-CAD exchange factored in. I may be mistaken but there was a well know Illinois collector bidding against Peltzer for the Sandusky. That is always the case though. If you have two bidders that want something really bad, the sky is often the limit.
Prices for the really desireable old iron seem to follow this trend. If one or more of the big collectors doesn't have one, then stand back!

I was wondering the same thing Craig! Apparently we need to round up some Fordson's up in the Midwest and take them to cali.

You've seen what happened this time around.
The best thing any seller can hope for is two bottomless pits of money who want the same thing!........

I was really good this year; but not good enough to convince Santa that I deserve a Holt 75.

I thought exactly the same thing. I'm not a tractor collector but I would have placed a bid or two on the Heider. Pretty neat looking tractor and the price seemed very reasonable.

The Deere patio's were cheap. Must not have been any garden tractor people there.

Hi Tom,
Great auction.
Can you tell where the Holt and Samson are heading to?
Marc.

I have a 6 hp engine in CA that needs a ride to east of the Mississippi River. If anyone will be transporting one of the tractors that sold in that direction, please let me know. It will be a good way to offset some of your tractor transport costs. I think I can have the engine delivered to the auction site so it wouldn’t require someone to have to travel to pick it up and would just be a matter of letting it ride on your truck or trailer east.

Even with trucking across the country. I should have watched the auction. then again you never know how high the bidder would have gone.

The 20-40 case is a nice original that needs the typical bearing work and some mechanical freshening. Great deal! Staying in Cali.

The Heider ran well but the gearing was COMPLETELY shot. The buyer of the Heider has NOS gearing for it. Heading to Il.

The 10-20 Case was really nice not hammered like most. The engine was loose but really tight. Painted and then never ran. This was a good deal. Can’t remember where this one is going.

Do you have any info on where the two Averys, the Aultman-Taylor and the Sandusky are headed, Tom?

I wondered whether the A-T would have had a square radiator originally - does anyone know when they changed?
