had to widen the cart a small amount, and what do you know , there were two holes in the rails in perfect alignment! Go figure, I'd rather be lucky than smart! Heres the pic's.

Hat's off to you, excellent show of skills. Question about the finish on your engine, exactly what type of oil did you rub into the metal and did you do the same for the cart? Does this method of finishing wear in good? Guess if a touch-up were ever needed, rub a tad in and keep going. Working on a couple Perkins model engines and being mostly cast and steel, thinking of trying the same finish on one of them.

the engine was coated with "texas crude oil" after a small layer of rust was detected. sounds corny, but it looks nice. the cart is painted flat black.

several people have asked about the regulator I am using. It is a MARSHALL, model MEGR-230.

Putting the Original 4hp REID back together. We dismantled it to get dimensions for the patterns. Hope I can find all the parts..........
