I have this old toy gas tractor I want to get going again. It has a lawn mower coil used for the ignition and a condenser along with a set of points. It had spark while I was using a very small 12 volt battery but I burnt out the coil and no spark now. I want to know can I use a 12 volt car coil and condenser and the small 12 v battery to provide the spark to the NKG CM-6 spark plug? or if anybody has more information on what I may need to get this to fired up that would be great as this is a driving toy tractor with both forward and reverse. Thanks everybody!

Neat model of an Advance Rumely Oil Pull model F tractor with single cylinder engine. Many videos of them on Youtube.

Thx now I know what to look for (Rumely) I did not see any like this on YouTube but will keep searching for more information on the ignition system. As I’m not sure on what I will need to do to complete it. I also have my JD hit and miss 1930 I rebuilt it a few years back I use Colman fuel to run it. Not sure what fuel to use on this unit.

It is definitely a home made one of a kind model of an original Rumely tractor. You won't find another model like it. I referenced youtube in case you wanted to see the real thing your model was built after.

To answer your first question, yes, you should be able to use a car coil & condenser on it. I ran a car coil on my old Allis Chalmers Garden Tractor for several years and as far as I know it still running with it (I sold it a while back).

As for the John Deere "E" engine, unleaded Pump Gas works just fine. A lot of people complain about Ethanol Fuels, but personally, I've Never had any problems with it. BOTH Fuels were in use in the 1930s when they were built.

You may need a resistor in series with the coil. Quite likely if yours burned out, it was designed for 6 volts.

That is an extremely cool model. Please post a video of it running/driving when you get it going!

Google Modelectric coil. Used on model planes, takes up a lot less space and operates on 3 volts, as I remember.

Update, Ordered the CDI from Roy the motor appears to have good spark and the compression is there also But I'm not having much luck getting it to fire I did get a small pop a few times only. I'm using coleman fuel at this time maybe not a good choice? not sure? any ideals out there on what I should be looking at? the timing seams to be firing at TDC also I'm using the the points with the new ignition system.
thx Rick
