Default 1945 ITE Breaker Switch on Slate - Info Help

This is a recent flea market find that I took a chance on buying. I don’t know much about it other than it looks cool. Not sure if it’s a desirable item but it looks unique. It’s from the I.T.E. Co in Philadelphia and it’s from 1945. It’s mounted on a very heavy piece of slate. Any info you could possibly share would be greatly appreciated.

Nice piece of old switchgear. Can we have a photo of the back to see the connections?

Must have been fun doing primary injections on the overload. We had a 5000A DC set to do our DC switchgear overloads. Most used on the DC field circuit breaker on older sets, 160MW output.

Thanks for the link. Here are a few more pictures. Right now I have it off the slate so I can clean it a bit and it’s a little easier to handle. The slate is 24” wide x 27” High and 2” thick.

That's great. Everyone needs one of them. Well, they should.

I am also curious to know if this style is still or could be used today? Not sure if it would be up to today’s codes and standards. I am not an electrician so I am wondering how many people have seen these?

Look up on google low voltage switchgear arc flash
the fault capacity has resulted in numerous improvements to switchgear, protection & operation & maintenance
