Default What is what3words?

bad Karma location. should be the "what three words" for our
ATV repeater location. putting up a new antenna and 1-7/8
low loss feed line, cut from a large reel,
long enough to get inside the shack
but sadly short of the existing lightning arrester group.

this will likely result in some ugly compromise
and a disappointment to the other wise neat install.

Unless you have needed to identify a location that is
without a recognized address, then you might consider it redundant,
but it works and it is free to the user.

It happens once in a while, even to those of use who have learned that paying for and cutting off 5, 10 or even 20 "extra" feet of Heliax is a small price to avoid such incidents.

Look on the bright side. At least you didn't have some bean counting LCDR order RG-214 for a 200 foot run that you spec'd LDF5-50 for and not say anything about it until they day you're supposed to install equipment...

That should work just fine, and be much easier to route inside the shelter.

Yeah, big hardline doesn't make for a good 'whip' to the antenna.

the biggest problem, is that you need an additional pair of connectors to absorb all the atmospheric moisture up there...

And there's always some sort of impedance 'bump' because the connector becomes a resistor, and the whip becomes a second LCR circuit... but we cannot 'beat' physics. The whip CAN be a length-sensitive thing... so make it a couple feet longer than you need. If you find that the system doesn't perform quite right, lose a foot off the whip and sweep it again... one foot of LDF50 at 421MHZ will have a fair effect on resonance.
