1917 case car $47,500

Indian motorcycle $22,500

Sure would have liked to have gone, but the weather and roads got worse

I too would like to know how well the rest sold for I cannot believe they had that good of a showing in such bad weather

I drug home this W for $11k. That took a lot of scratching around for this 25 year old kid to come up with (never mind the other 17 tractors I have bought this year.) I'll be looking for a set of rear steel and a steering wheel at some point. The X with extensions brought $11 or $11,5k and is headed to Newcastle.

One of the X's brought 8k and the steering wheel had been broken off from a tree. The rest were in the 11-18k range. I didn't write stuff down as I was too busy bidding. In hindsight I wish I would have pushed the X with extensions a bit harder but oh well.

The two big Rumely combines brought $375 and $400. The little one they didn't have pictured brought $500 and was headed to Minnesota. These three aren't being cut up but several parts combines are headed to China. I have pictures of these over in the combine forums on ytmag.

The two parts tractors bought $2k and $400.

The first pic should be of the little Rumely combine.
The second should be one of the two big ones.
The third is the Rumelys in line.
The forth is the parts tractor that they didn't put in line and didn't announce that they were selling that brought $400.

I wasn't there, I didn't see much advertising of it. Based on the discussion here and on Facebook, I would say that this auction is proof that you get what you pay for when hiring an auctioneer.

I stopped earlier this week to look at all of them and take pictures knowing I was probably not going to be able to make it to the sale but maybe phone a bid in. If the prices I've heard are correct the only pretty good deal was the X with extensions and the rest were pretty much right there on value or maybe even a bit high. Most of them had been worked on and were left to rot again. Most were stuck. As projects go, they were almost all very good projects. But projects none the less. Even the ones that aren't stuck will need tore down a ways to get checked out.

Jim,

I'm not sure what the signs brought however I totally disagree with you about slamming the auction company, especially since you were not present. The sale was advertised in Antique Power, very very heavily locally, and has been plastered all over the internet. I'd say several 100 people in western Nebraska at a sale in absolutely miserable weather is a pretty decent turnout.

I do think that there were a few things they could have done different. I do think they should have made the sale on the farm a two day sale to do a better job of selling the smaller items instead of running three rings. It also isn't a very good time of year for a sale but the estate had to be settled. Edgar passed away in the middle of August and three months later everything is being sold. Not a ton of time to sort everything out like it needed. I was over two weeks before the sale and they had several crews going through barns sorting and still uncovering stuff. There was just a massive amount of iron and parts. There was no family help involved from the sounds of it.

Lance, congrats on the purchase of your 20-30 W Oil Pull...Thanks for the pictures and results..I thought that the sale was well advertised and that the prices mentioned were pretty much on the money..Surely most people on here take Antique Power magazine..

I attended that sale and I can say there were quite a few people there given its location. It was one cold bugger out there Saturday!!

my pet peeve with the auctioneer was he basically had no equipment to load with and he drug his feet constantly. It was like 10 degrees, snowing and wind blowing and he wanted to tell stories
