Default Delco-Remy/AC-Delco Dist/Gen/Starter Etc Numbers

While looking up points etc for the 1111775 distributor, dug out an
"AC-Delco New/Reman'f'd Alt/Gen/Starting Motors-New Dist's" catalog #1A-100 1988...
This was whole units only, no internal parts...
In the Alt/Gen/Starter sections had three columns: "original" number (1100837) "new" number (1100842) and "reman" (completely different type of number)...
Some numbers were only slightly changed (1100837 to 1100842)
Some were considerably changed(1100882 to 1105360)
Some weren't changed, "orig" and "new" staying the same number...
In the Dist section a much smaller percentage of numbers were changed, many "orig" and "new" the same...(no "reman" dist's)...
Did GM and/or AC-Delco (AC-Delco, Gen Mtrs Corp, Detroit) simply assign new numbers for some reason, or were these later models that replaced/superseded the earlier ones, or what???
No, I didn't find 1111775 where it usually shows up, which means there're 9 pgs of non-pass to eyeball and if not there 23 pgs pass cars to eyeball...maybe I'll try Googling...
