For those folks who don't know, the "Hudson Auction" is the annual consignment auction put on by the Hudson Valley Old Time Power Association as a fund raiser for the club. Consignors pay a 15% commission to the club, on all sales. Its an all volunteer operation--including the auctioneers who do a great job. Its an all day event with either two or three auctioneers selling simultaneously. The club site is located near the intersection of Fingar Road and State Route 23, south of Hudson, New york. Its always a good day-- lots of good food for sale.

Consignments will be accepted from May 4-May 8, from 8AM to 5 PM. I'll try and post some pictures when I drop off my consignments.

I dropped my trailer off for its annual inspection this AM. I plan on taking up several loads of engines and "stuff".

I plan to do my usual tour of the auction items all of Friday afternoon after I drop off the Cub Cadet "O" and other goodies for sale.

If you are new to the Hudson auction bring a friend or 2. Now with 3 auctioneers they have been done auctioning at around 6pm the last few years. They try to limit it to roughly 1,200 lots. You will think you are in old iron heaven. Worth my 6 hour drive every year.

Well I took my first load up this AM. By 11 AM there were two rows full already. The auction always takes at least 12 full rows.
Attached are a few pictures of some of the early arrivals.

More pictures to follow later in the week (I've got to make a couple of more trips.)

Here are long views of the first two rows -- to give you an idea of the size.

This must be the year for marine engines -- I saw at least six in the first two rows. Heres a Ferro and a Gray. Also a Root & Vandervoort and a steam engine and boiler.

Exclamation Re: Hudson valley new york auction may 9, 2015

Looks to be a long day. Shame that they will not apply sales against purchases, but too many bad checks and time constraints have taken their toll. I took several engines up Monday morning, got there about 11 AM. There were already 6 rows of material, and that was only Monday! looks like I will be busy this year (as always). At least last year I was out of there by about 7 PM, compared to the year before - 11 PM

Anyone know what the 4hp bulldog the 4.5 olds, pushrod schram and the schram domestic went for? I had a good time bought some good stuff; other than a sun burnt face and a thinner wallet it was great. Should have bought the fordson, devilbus and domestic. Here's some prices I got, stayed to noon.
3hp m nice origional igniter 475?
3 hp m restored spark plug 600
6 hp Hercules rough 225
Really really nice friend on sprayer 600
1.5 hp domestic pump restored 1200
Nice fordson 450?
Small steam engine with boiler 525
Devilbus spray rig with stover engine 400 or 425
Golf cart 825?
4 stroke Jacobsen mower engine 80

Thumbs up Re: Hudson valley new york auction may 9, 2015

The Schramm model 20 (rock island engine) went for $450. It was heavily rusted, stuck, and the air reservoir tank badly pitted. The Domestic/Schramm was also stuck and the air tank nearly rusted thru as well. Same man bought both units. This auction was certainly a buyers auction! Engine prices a bit on the low side, but I noticed a nasty trend. Many engines went for low money because the mags and igniters were removed. There were 5 or 6 engines with recent restoration that went for 250 to 350 each. All were missing the mag or ignitor assemblies. Mags and ignotors were not sold at the auction, so where did they go?

We had beautiful weather for a change, and the auction went well. Over 2000 items, and we were done selling by about 6 O'Clock
