serial no reads 44110E

It says crude oil on the wall side i presume this means it runs on crude oil though it doesn't appear to have a hot bulb I dunno i'm no expert on Mcdonalds, It is free and has good compression I hope to pick it up on Saturday, can anyone give an age, Hp(4-5 I would guess) rpm etc or some where I can find out

Cheers Andrew

Looks like a C.E. McDonald built mid 30's tp 1950 about 4.5 hp at about 450 rpm. Starts easily and runs well on diesel fuel

Serial numbers in 1934 run from 4433 to 4468.Should be an FF type.5 HP at 500 rpm. 5 inch bore and 7 inch stroke.Got no info on the E after the number. Could it be F? That would mean rebuilt by factory. This series of engine run from 1919 to 1951. They were a larger version of the C type.
This is all straight out of the McDonald book Ďndustrial Pioneer"

Thanks guys, looking at the photo's now with a bit of knowledge is it possible that it actually reads "4411CE" not 44110E which I presume makes it a CE type as Oldgoat stated.

Cheers Andrew

Had a look at a McDonald handbook tonight. No such thing. Just tighten em up. But if you think you might twist them off drop the engine here and I'll make sure its looked after
It could join the SE (1944) I picked up this arvo Not a goer yet but its all there. Just got to make sure all the brons stuff is hooked up right.
