Those were Farmer Browns (Leroy Hoover's) engines I believe.

I think the sale starts at 9am. There is usually rows and rows of farm equipment, lawn mowers and riding mowers, shop equipment, tractors and who knows what else.

They usually start selling the engines about 11 am. However a coupke of years ago they did not get to the engine until after 1 PM.

You can call them to get the actual start times.

They have another sale the Friday after Thanksgiving, last year there were several Stakers at the sale.

For the record, if you are looking for previous Wolgemuth's Auctions, please spell it right and include the apostrophe. Computer searches do not work so well with wolgamuths, woglemuths or the like. It's WOLGEMUTH'S and, above all, if you are making a post, spell the title correctly. That's the only way that it will be found in a search!

Also, please do not add to a previous year's threads when a current year thread is already started.

There were two rings of engines. Leroy Hoover's in front of the building and more common engines beyond. There was a nice Schramm two hopper compressor engine that went for $2200. It looked like it weighed a ton!
Yes, those are rain clouds above. As things picked up and went into action, so did the rain. What a mess!

Default Lancaster County engine sale today

Here are some videos of the engines that were at the Wolgemuth Auction today. Lots of engines as well as accessories, oilers, mag's, wheels, some Planet Jr's, Standard tractors, feed grinders, etc.

A nice crowd of engine folks attended.

I was walking into the office and there was a guy sitting by the door with a smokstaks button on his hat. I asked what his name was on Stak's and much to my surprise he said "I AM HARRY". Apparently, he was on the way home after traveling in New England and stopped by the sale and will be at Rough and Tumble this week.

I have most of the prices from the sale and will scan them and will get then on here later tonight.

Here is the pricing that I have. I missed the first few items because I wanted to bid on another item in another area. I had to leave before the items at the end of the list were sold.

Hopefully someone can fill in the missing prices.

I liked the guy in Garys Toys second video that walked over to the engine and turned it over and never looked it over to see if anything was stuck opps broken rocker arm or other things. That could of happened.

To pick up where Gary stopped, the SCALE models brought:
JD-E on a cart 2,200
Air Cooled-GADE 1,700
NH Scale 2,000
Domestic Stove pipe 1,800
Little John on cart 2,300
Hot Air engine 1,000
Aermotor with pump 2,000
Galloway 1,700
Olds on a cart 1,600
IHC S/C, cart & base 3,500
1 ˝ M on cart 3,200
Callahan 4,200
Bessemer 3,500
Model saw mill 450

There were quite a few buys at the auction that I passed on , and a few that brought crazy $’s, like the ˝ quart White Mountain Ice cream freezer (looked new with the flat barrel bands) for $700 , but the 20 quart one only brought $450? Go figure. It was a good day, but then isn’t any day at an engine auction a good day while having fun on the way through, even in Pa. in the rain. I got a couple of things to add to the collection of “STUFF” , and it was good to see Harry, again .

My son tried to log into the on-line bidding for this auction, site would not let him in. Did anyone get the model engine prices? There were several I was interested in.

It appeared to me that a lot more models came out for auction than I saw during the preview. The prices all drove me numb and I went home empty handed.

Harry:I only went home with one at the price I had in mind. I must add, that I wanted more, but that's the way it is . After a few hours of working on the model in the shop, half apart, I figured out the cause , and got the compression leak fixed (two intersecting, overlapping cylinder machining operations = one small pin hole compression leak ), and it's all over. Yes, I'm still having fun after another day at a "FLEA" market, even in NJ on the way through .
