Nosing through the Tripp County diamond jubilee book (1984) at the SD archives turned up these two pictures - one of a Hart-Parr 30-60 and the other of a Big Four.

The way the inscription on the Big 4 photo reads, that tractor and plow still exist.

Nice line up of Twin City tractors. The tho on left are 40-65 and the others look like 15-30. The thow 40's have different canopy and seat arrangements if you look close ans the right one had different wheels.

I am curious.

Has anyone ever been able to positively identify a tractor they currently have with an old photo that they have found???

If the tractor has the same distinguishing marks as the one in a photograph.

Here is a picture from my late father- in-law's collection of paper. The quality is not that good but it's a neat picture so I thought it was worth posting. Looks like a 15-30 Fairbanks Morse tractor and potentially a 1912 Buick model 34 Car. He lived in York County, Nebraska all his life so it could be from that area.

Hello, seasons greetings 'n all that. I met this picture today, I wondered what anyone thought of it? I figured (probably wrongly) it was taken in the U.K. as the tractor carries WD markings, if it had been in France the crew would have been in uniform? Does anyone recognise the plough? I didn't know any Holts were planned to be put to agricultural use? Is the plough Ruston built or something you know? I never imagined a gang plough made it over here....

The plow looks to be John-Deere designed. But it could have been built under licence too. It was likely imported or they would have been more common over there.

I picked up this cabinet photo of an early IHC tractor at a local farm toy show. You never know where this old stuff will turn up!

I also found what I believe is a picture of a Big 4-30 tractor from the same vendor. It doesn't show as well in this photo; but the Big 4 logo is visible on the left fender. This one appears to be a proof from a catalog or other period publication.
