There is an operational Midwest engine in a fire truck about 150 miles from me.

I am attaching a photo of the Midwest engine that Max was referring to at Laws Railroad Museum.
Sadly, Max Cox passed away November 2015 from Cancer.

kengco; Sorry to hear the sad news about Max Cox, I had not seen him on the stak for some time. About the engine at the museum , It appears to be bigger then the one in my tractor, Mine is 280.6 CI 1100RPM Bore/stroke is 4.125 x 5.25. App 21 drawbar / belt 33. But Allis Chalmers choose to label the tractor 15/25. Thanks again for the return massage. How did your find me ? I checked your profile and found you just signed on. Roger Weinhold AKA Charlie 15/25

All Stakers; I don`t know what happened here, But somehow a reply of mine on this thread did`t go though, could be maybe I screwed up and punched the wrong button or no button, Any way here it is again. To all; Just got back from Minn.& The Orange Spectacular, Had a little rain, but still a good show, Then to Wis. to see family in Sheboygan Co. On the way I just happened to stop in ROSHOLT, WIS for a visit with our one and only ( Craig Anderson ) in person, that was great to see him and his shop ( Boy if those walls could talk we would have been there for a week ) and some of the tractors he has. Then to Kohler, Wis for the Kohler museum of old gear boxes and machines & generaters & some horse pulled equipment. I have some pictures, but they are in my phone, ( Later on that ) Then to Burnett Corners, Wis for a show that had a Allis Chalmers feature. This show has a lot of threshing, Here I found a Minneapolis 32-54 threshing machine, One of the big ones, ( that`s what my 1925 " L " Allis used to power up. ) Next I stopped by George Shaaf`s place at Frankfort, Ill. ( south of Chicago.) Had a nice talk with him & seen some of his tractors , ( mostly Allis )Then home to Georgia and catch up on the Stak. Then on Sept. 8-11 we were in Booneville, Mo. For the GOTO there. They have a little bit of everything. Something like 335 Allis Chalmers there , And met up with some old friends. Then some site seeing on the way home and some more shows around the Atlanta area.

Thanks to Roger for bringing Big Charlie to the 2016 Gathering of the Orange in Boonville, MO. It was a tad wet, but there was still a great showing of A-C orange and green.

Wanted to make show but unless I wake early in morning and hustle. Thought it would be great to see an L in person to compare my recent purchase to identify anything missing or botched.

ajs; I got a few days at home with access to the Stak, It looks like you have a almost complete tractor , fenders and hood look like they are mostly all there, ( good for paternes,) the air cleaner seems to be there, just not being used , I`m sure the radiator will have to be changed out, You asked about changing the wheels back to steel, that mite be a lot of work, if you have to change all the spokes, I had to change all the spokes on my tractor because they were eat out because of the cloride that was in the tires, my tractor was changed to rubber in 1948 a year after my father get the tractor, reason being the road past the farm was paved and we had to drive on it to get to other farmers to thrash for them, about 10 to 12 each year back in the 40`s 50`s and early 60`s. I don`t see a mag. It takes a Dixie, but well run with most any other kind. My tractor has an International one , it was on the tractor when my father got him and it`s still on him. I would think the engine is tight after all the years of being out side, please don`t try pulling the tractor to get it loss. My engine was tight with 6 stuck valves, and tight water pump, removed the head and everything else was loss. My tractor was only outside for about 10 or 12 years. I got the tractor in 2009, after a 40 year rest.I reworked the tractor in 2009 and did the engine in 2011 ,( Went to a few shows with the pistons ,rods ,valves and other in side engine parts missing )Good luck with your tractor. Roger... The air cleaner you see is incorrect and tough shape. Unfortunately the cut offs crumbled apart when it got loaded but spokes are intact. I have a mag for it somewhere in my bordello of mags. But yes it's very complete except for brake pulley and belt pulley. I would love to put back on steel if no one talks me out of tractor before that. Though I'm slowly falling in love outside my TC realm. Engine inspection looked very good inside crankcase for rust and moisture. Lots of shiny oily parts with just a tad of rust residue on 1 cylinder. Soaking now until right time. No I won't pull it to loosen engine. But I do think the manifold design did help save engine from extreme weather wear. Had a long-fender Allis before either 18-30 or early early 20-35 with external lubricator I had dealt to a very good home out in Crosby ND. And since always wanted another....now there's another in the stable. One half of the family was Allis people and the other Minneapolis Moline. So naturally I'm fond of the two.

About time to get Big Charlie out and clean the big guy up a little, We want to go to some tractor shows. Got a GOTO in Oakley, Mich. on the 17-20 of Aug. That`s this weekend. Then this year is the Half Century Of Progress in Rantoul, Ill. That`s Aug. 24-27 I have been told that is a really big show. Rock River Thresheree in Edgerton /Janesville, Wis. is Sept 1-4. Then a little road time to Ottawa. Ka. for there Power of the Past Show, Sept. 8-10 witch is a GOTO this year. GOTO stands for ( Gathering of the Orange) . Love these Allis Chalmers shows, Even if my tractor is green , Charlie likes all those little orange tractors even if he is a lot older. Then back home again after 4 shows and some road time. See all of you at a tractor show. Happy Camping.

Stakers; Just returned home from the full 4 week road trip of shows in Mich. Ill. Wis. and Ka. Did I have a good time ? Yes I did and will remember it for a long time. Can`t go wrong when One goes to the GOTO shows and there other Allis Chalmers tractors of the green color and we drive them in the parades, We are the leaders most of the time. If any of you ever get to go to the Half century of progress show in Rantuol, Ill. That is one big BIG show. The next show is in 2019. Happy camping at a tractor show.

Charlie, you mention the goto at Rantoul IL. We were there on sat. One heck of a lot of walking! Went to see the Keck display, that and the fact that some of the big plow rigs were from our local show.
