I really enjoy every time I talk to John. I can only imagine discovering some of the neat tractors in the wild that he has over the years. We can only dream about finding rare big prairie tractors in the wild here in Ohio. I have read the article about John's team pulling the big Four out of the river and then restoring it too many times to mention. All of John's tractors are awesome, but my favorite is the 30-60 Fairbanks. Six of our Oilpulls were first discovered by John.

Well John had a birthday last week. AS you can see by the smile of his face he is pretty happy with his present! We were down last Saturday to see what was up. He has been working on his Model F Ford of 1905 vintage. Here are some photos. We had it running and plugged up some oil leaks and overcome some plumbing problems. The body should be back in Crosby this week. It will be another sharp looking car in the line up next summer at the show!

Im having trouble loading a video but when I get it figured out I will post a link.

Also in the shop is the Sampson truck. The Waterloo Boy should also be ready to run in the spring.

Great post Kelly. That video is excellent!
Talked with the ol' boy a couple of weeks back. He did seem in a very good mood - never realized he was hip-deep in birthday presents! Must be nice!

HI Guys

I was down to Crosby yesterday. Progress is being made on the Samson truck. The body is on the F Ford. Also lots of progress has been made on two John Deere D's one for Robby that I have posted before and another that Kent Melby has been working on "Big Johnny". Unfortunately my camera killed the pictures when I downloaded them! #+*%@# So I only have two photos that I took with my phone. One of the F Ford and one of the Samson at the end of the day.

Here is another photo from Johns the other day taken by Robbie Melby. Kent Melby (sitting) and Dale Howard (John's brother in law) are putting the head back on "Big Johnny". In the background you can see the sampson truck and part of one of the Tilsoils.

Glad to see the eagle running again, I know they had to replace the mains on it as the last time you could raise the crankshaft up and down a good 1/4 in. it ran but really rattled about. I would like to get up there more often for these little get togethers but it's a 20 hr drive one way. Thanks for the pics Ben. F.J.W.

Hi Guys

I haven't posted in awhile! Here are a couple pictures I took before Christmas. There has been more work done since then. I will post more pictures of progress in a few days. I will let John add the details on the tractors.

Kelly, has any progress been made on the Garr Scott sitting out side the shop? That engine really is impressive, Would really love to have one of them in my group of toys! F.J.W.

Here is an update on the Spoker D. It has been painted and waiting for fenders etc to come back from paint. It has been moved out to make room for another project which I will post pictures of later.

I want to thank Kelly for posting some pictures of what we are working on this winter. He asked me to add some history and ect on the John Deere and the 12-25 Avery, I bought the John Deere at the Herb Zuren sale this past summer for my son Cris as he wanted to restore a tractor (he paid for it). It was missing some parts but was a true spoker and looked pretty good to me. It had been worked on some and cylinders and head were fine, Henry Simons ground and balanced the crankshaft, Terry Harkins poured the bearings, we got new tin, correct back wheels and flywheel also what ever else we needed to make it correct should be a fine John Deere, had a proper Mag for it so sent it to Richard Kibble and he tuned it up, had the correct carb for it but still need a early air cleaner for it. I bought the 12-25 Avery out in Montana in 1965, always wanted to fix it and now am getting done. It is a early one and needed some help, we made new fenders for it, Henry ground the crank, balanced it also sleeved one cylinder and fixed up the heads. Harkins poured the bearings Oris Herland made the radiator. Matt Folstad supplyed some needed items and also good advice. Kibble will take care of the ignition Dennis Kuntz did some welding on the reverse part, we replaced the diff gear as it was broken. Robby and Kent Melby, Dale Howard, Cris Tysse, Roger Ekvick and Kelly have all been a big help along with the others I mentioned also got some good pictures from Harvey Jungling on the early Avery. The Avery parts Kelly took picture of are for a later 12-25 that Glen and Cris Orwick along with Robby are getting ready to do next winter, it is a later 12-25. I get a lot of good help but if it wasn't for Glen Orwick I couldn't get this all done as he is there when ever I need him. Thanks to all of them. John Tysse Jr Crosby, ND
