Default Need Information on Eureka Air Cooled Drag Saw Engine.

Hi,
I am trying to help a neighbor get his Eureka Air Cooled Drag Saw Engine running. He bought it years ago but never could get it started so it has been buried in his garage for a long time.
I have a Ward DS that I have managed to keep running and an Ottawa 5hp DS that I'm restoring but I'm no expert and would like to get what information I can on the Eureka before getting into it.
Has anybody got an "Operating" or "Service Manual" for this engine?
Thanks,
Rich Fowler miguti@comcast.net

Can't say I have ever heard of, or even thought of an air cooled drag saw, but now that I know they exist, I want one!

The Eureka Drag Saws were air cooled. And if my memory is correct they were made in Eureka Ca by the Anderson Brothers.I know they made them in 2 sizes, one about the size of a Wade or Vaughn and a very light weight unit that is a fold up unit I presume made for easy packing into the forest.
We have one of the larger units at PSE&TA in Lynden, Wa and I have one of the smaller units somewhere in my shop.
Hope this helps, I used to collect drag saws and still have a few.
In most of the advertising they most always refered to them as a one man saw, that must have been when men were men like in the 20,s and 30,s, They were most likely better then the old whip saw.

Feel Free to shoot me an e-mail, I think I have a manual for one.

http://www.smokstak.com/forum/sendme...lmember&u=7445

One of these days I need to get my Eureka Running, but first I have to get it unstuck! So many projects, so little free time!

Whats your Ward saw? A Montgomery Ward sold one built by Multnomah Iron Works, Or a Montgomery Ward one built by Timber Wolf. I have several of each in my collection, and If you are not sure, feel free to send me a pictures and I can confirm its identity for you.

Good Luck on your saws, they are fun,

Chris
