Default old elgine one cylidner 1940's model unknown

i received it from and older gentleman because it kept over heating at idle and he was going to throw it in the lake but he gave it to me instead. it is old made in 1940 like my father as soon as i figure out the model and serial no. and how to send pics i will send them along. i don't think it is a high speed motor but it will be fun to learn on.the only problem i have so far is loosening the screws on the bottom end where the impeller is they are steel into aluminum or pot metal? and i don't want to break anything so i sprayed it with break free and tapped it with a hammer. and let it sit. is there anyplace to get parts for these old motors? and how do i clean the inside of the motor i am sure i hasn't been done for a while any light on the subject would be most appreciated.
