Default Knox Engine

Hi Harry, When we were in Maine last month we visited a maritime museum
in Bath. I spotted this engine in a boat and thought maybe you'd like
to see a picture of it. -- Mike Matthews

Thumbs up Re: Knox Engine

Neat looking engine! I bet that starting handle was a real knuckle buster if the engine kicked though

Mike and Harry, one of those marine engines in the Maine Maritime Museum, Bath, Me. is a KENNEBEC 5h.p. made circa 1906 which I had for several years after purchasing in 1968 and restoring. I donated it to this fine museum a few years ago. I also have a 3h.p. KNOX., and an original 1905 KNOX sales catalog. There were several marine engine mfrs. along the coast of Maine, but saltwater is a great enemy and many ended up as anchors on the bottom of the ocean.

I don't get on forums very often but here I am. I have a 4hp knox that was given to me by a friend who has now passed away. He acquired it in Florida from a man from Maine. It did not have the ignitor . The man said that he would send it to Georgia but never did. My friend called him to see why he didn't send it and was told that he sold the engine to cheep . My friend wouldn't pay the price. I had it running some years ago with a mag that I mounted on the crank. It jumped around like a kangaroo. I have not run it since
