Hi Harry Are there any MAC users who could post the sequence of clicks to attach photos to a post or reply. Many thanks for your great forum. John Ross

One more try!

Fer some reason it doesn't want to work, although I can click on the links above and get the picture. I still can't get the thumbnail to appear on the message.

I still have not found the instructions on how to send a photo? I assume the paperclip icon is for attachments, but how do I know if photo(attachment) is accepted before sending to server?

The site software will automatically resize photos in excess of 2 megs in size.
If you are attempting to attach photos directly as they came from the camera you will probably have trouble.
If you are using a Windows PC the easiest way to resize is open the image using PAINT and save as a jpg or jpeg.

Yes, the paperclip icon is used for attaching pictures.

I got confused when I first tried adding pictures and thought the 'postcard' looking icon was, but it asks you to type in a url address which I don't have, as I don't have my pictures stored on-line.

The paperclip icon opens another window titled "Manage Attachments" which then has two "Browse" buttons for finding the pictures in your computer. You can upload two at a time, with a limit of 4 per post. I never really paid attention to it before, but there is also a "Manage Attachments" button below the "Submit Reply" & "Preview Post" buttons in another box with "Additional Options"

As for knowing if the picture has been 'accepted' or uploaded, hit the "Preview Post" button and check it out before you hit the "Submit Reply" button. That also gives you a chance to read your post as it will appear and check to see if it looks right if you highlighted something with bold print or different colors, and that everything is spelled right if you haven't downloaded the spell check program.

And now after I posted that.... I clicked on the thumbnail that Craig attached, and see that he is pointing to the "Manage Attachments" button under the "Additional Options"

And of course, you can't access either the "Paperclip" OR the "Manage Attachments", in the "Quick Reply" which only has the "Postcard" icon for url attachments.

You have to click on the "Go Advanced" button to open another window to get either one of those or the "Preview post" option.

Otto and Craig A, thanks for trying to help. It seems I had another problem....would not execute on the "paperclip" until I turned popup blocker off...then things started to react just as Otto said....this is the test if the photo works and I guess we will see if the thumbnail appears. Not sure where the "thank you" button is, so I will just say it again....Thank you! It has been a frustrating 2 days and it may not be over.

Glad to help.

I'm going to have to remember the other "Manage Attachments" button that Craig is pointing at in the thumbnail he posted. I've told a lot of people about the paperclip, but never noticed the other button there until today.... I'm sure it's always been there, I just didn't see it.

Is it good, bad, or indifferent to use the code to put an image into the post that is attached to the same post? It probably sucks on dial-up, as stated in previous posts in this thread, but I do like to see the larger pictures right away. (Yes, impatient)

Like this.

I have tried posting pictures a couple of times. I have just given up! Best of luck to those that can, I have better things to do.
