Default Gardner Engine

Pick up this unique Gardner engine today unfortunately the salt water has done the job on the cylinder water jacket the rest of the engine looks good any information would be appreciated thanks Pete

What a great find Peter!,..you did very well to come home with that starter frame arrangement included.It might keep you busy for awhile making parts..but for some of us the hobby would be less enjoyable without that aspect.

3 hp marshal under repair, the other is a odd one Roberts & son will do a post on it when I move it out of the shed and revile all the information about it

From the book "Gardner-L, Gardner & Sons Limited; Legendary Engineering Excellence" by Graham Edge, I would identify this engine as a model BM1 of 5 BHP. The M series were introduced in 1902 and built from 1 to 8 cylinders.
