Question "WHO is he" is the Question

Received a positive responce to an ad placed in SMOKSTAK to sell my steam engine and boiler from a "". I live in the USA and he is willing to pay all shipping expenses which will be costly. My question concerns the validity of "george or bceng". I just dont want to be stiffed for the shipping costs for this purchase by "george"
Thanks to anyone that may provide information.

Get your money up front. Let the buyer deal with the shipping. There are logistics companies that will pick up and deliver anywhere in the world, all you need to do is strap it on a pallet / crate. Let the buyer do the shipping at his cost, don't finance the thing.

Have him make payment to your bank and tell him you will have to wait 10 days for clearance on everything before any additional transactions can take place. The big scams take place when the buyer sends you a cashiers check for $1000 more than the purchase price and says he needs you to send the extra thousand back to him to pay shipping. They always have a reason why the extra $1000 had to be sent. I know of several folks that have been caught in this type scam.

There is a actual B.C. Engineering company in Evansville, IN. They also have a web site as well. Give them a call and ask for George, 812-424-9741.

I am old and gray but I still work in the business of stopping and preventing online fraud. Always receive payment by a trusted method, not gift cards or western union. Certified bank checks to day often need 5 days or more to clear believe it or not. If a buyer needs something right away have him wire transfer the funds to your bank and then he can arrange pickup. when I cannot verify who I am dealing with I simply walk away. I have bought and sold a ton of merchandise over the internet and have met some great people doing so. I also have a handful of checks from overseas banks that look like they were printed on a old newspaper.

just like roll call on Hill Street Blues "lets be careful out there"

If he sends you a certified check, take it to your bank and INSIST that the manager check its validity. My son sold an engine several years ago and was sent a certified check. I told him to take it to the bank and have it checked out. Sure enough, it was a forgery. Account # didn't exist, amount had been artfully changed! Make sure you have the money in hand FIRST, before doing anything else! Seller BEWARE

Hi GYoung, I know how you feel with a purchaser not following up on a deal. I made a funnel with socket fitted for a chap who did not leave his ph, number etc, 12 months later it is still waiting for him to call and pick up. It is annoying. Cheers, John
