I've got the 160-1376 part, and most everything else needed for the conversion.
Like new (installed, but then removed before being put in service... long story).
I'll sell if someone needs it and the price is right.

When I posted the prior note that I have the 160-1376 part, I didn't realize that I had left that part on my boat. I finally got to the boat yesterday and now have all of the required parts for this conversion in hand.

Who wants them?\

Hi All, I'm a new member, actually I joined after a search turned up this thread. My 1988 MCCK 6.5 used to run perfect but last summer it really started acting up. I think I've found the problem with a dieing fuel pump but decided to also do this conversion.

Timing is everything. It appears the 160-1376 part simply isn't available anywhere. I emailed the last poster and he sold his parts two weeks ago. Like I said, timing is everything!

Anyway, if anyone out there knows where I can pick up this part I would really appreciate it. I'd actually take all four parts required if somebody bought these and decided not to do the conversion.

I'm pretty sure those ignition modules and some others like it only work on magneto ignitions.

My guess is that this module depends on the polarity reversal when other end of the magnet goes past the pole on the core of the ignition coil.

Put one of those on my old Homelite chainsaw. Works pretty good.

I checked out the link BarnesBrokerage suggested and I think Kimbra Dean is correct. There are all kinds of electronic conversions for small engines with a distributor or magneto, haven't been able to find any other one for a plunger actuated point system like on the MCCK.

What I can't figure out is why Onan stopped making these (part 160-1376), I haven't read any post complaining this set up didn't work.

The search for the elusive 160-1376 electronic ignition module is finally over! I found a thread on a bus conversion site which directed me to www.campingworld.com. They had 2 in a warehouse in Kentucky (I already got one of them!). Their part number is 9303. If you phone in the order they will tell you (a) it's discontinued (we already know that) and (b) they don't have any. Tell them to check inventory in Kentucky and it will show up.

I ended up paying about $200 for it.

Shortly after that JoeyB on this site emailed me that he had 2 new ones as well. If somebody needs his phone number send me an email and I'll forward it to you (provided you do NOT post the price if it's less than the $200 I paid !!!).

A company called Pertronix out of Denver Colo . has kits for this that will set you up just fine if you cant find it here. http://www.pertronix.com/

When I was looking for this part the sites I checked out talked about Pertronix being a wholly owned supply company of onan/cummins and was told this part wasn't available. What I didn't do was actually check with Pertronix if this was true.

Question Re: How to: Convert ONAN CCK & MCCK 6.5KW to OEM Electronic Ignition

Does any one know the year Onan went to electronic ingnition, since we can't get the kit maybe we can buy dead late model Gen sets and change out EI Mod to older units, Also will the elec ignition from a 6.5 work in a 5.0

Or another Idea, I had is can we use a EI from a later model 2 cyl engine, on on older CCK,s , I have very limited knowledge and less understanding about the electrical part of an motor but I don't see why this wouldn't solve the problem of discontinued parts.

If it has the same style points set it will. I am not sure what the 4.0 cck looks like. I have only worked on my 6.5K MCCK and my 3.0 MAJB

Post your questions in the regular area not in the sticky it wont get confusing that way. In a short answer to both your questions yes both can have electonic ignition or a Pertronics kit.

From that point on I am confused. You don't show the plunger installed under the ignition. I have a CCKA and the plunger is too tall to fit, also there is a lip on the plunger holder.
