Default New Holland Model Engines 3 sizes of 1/2 Scale and Run Attempt w Smallest

Roughly every 6 months or so I get out this miniature New Holland
hit and miss gas engine and try to make it run. I have had
little success in the last couple years.

This time, in addition to firing, I actually got it to hit and miss
for several seconds at a time towards the end of the video.

Enjoy,

Gil

In these pictures you can see all 3 of the 1/2 HP New Holland scale models.

They are 1/2 scale, 1/3 scale, and 1/6 scale.

Their flywheel diameters are 6", 4", and 2".

Gil, was the little 1/6 scale made by a gent named DeLacruz or something similar? I remember a number of years ago I ran into a guy at Coolspring and he had a tiny NH model he carried in his jacket pocket. In the other pocket he had some fuel and a cordless dremel type tool. He pulled the engine out, sat it down and put some fuel in it and then put the dremel tool to the flywheel and gave it a spin. To my surprise it ran quite well.

Very nice models Gil!

I too recall something similar to what LCJudge had mentioned only in this case it was during the show at Orange Air Port, several years ago. I'm talking mid 90's!
A gentleman was walking around with the tiniest engine in the palm of his hand. He stopped and chatted with me for a while and showing off the engine model while rolling through the flywheels. ... It was a working model.
I often wondered who that fellow was or model maker.
The model was unpainted, however I don't recall the model type.

There was a fellow named Pierre who made and sold these back then.
I never met him as I got this one just a few years ago. Most who met him
had no idea of his last name.It would be nice to know what became of Pierre
as he has not been seen or heard from in years.

[/COLOR]Gil, I too have one of Pierre's engines. I bought it from him at the Jacktown, PA show many years ago. He used to take one or 2 to a show and sell them. First time I saw one was at Rough & Tumble at Kinzers, PA . I heard that he has passed on a few years ago. As far as I know, these engines did not hit & miss well, most just ran. It took a lot of fiddling with the governor to get them to miss. Pierre told me that there was a man who worked on the governor and got them to run as intended, but at the time he didn't have the mans info. I never got it. Now I am looking for someone to get mine running again, as my kids have messed up the timing (I think).

Pierre told me he made the kits from lost wax type castings. I do not know if the patterns still exist. Mine too is bronze and unpainted. Sure would like to see it run again. I also have one of the 1/4 scale models built by 7 Mtn Machine, it runs like a clock!

Im digging up an old post here. My father (Andy) is in need of some financial support, and I am attempting to help him out. His "kids" didnt mess up the timing on the motor as was thought. It has been in a glass storage case for as long as I can remember. It is an amazing looking little tike, and I am hoping I can find a new home. I dont have any pictures yet, as the models are in storage currently. I will list them in the classified area as soon as I can verify value and state of repair. If anyone has information as to the value of these, information to add to a classified ad, Please contact Andy or myself. We are looking at a very short timeline to move some models, and again, I dont have enough information to start making classified ads yet...

Thank you!!!

John
