Well it is getting fuel, its actually spitting a little out of the carb. so now I'm at a loss. Also noticed that I have no voltage going to my highspeed solenoid yes I know I have to get it started and running for it to work but as long as the switch is on shouldn't it be getting power?

When it dies, does it shut off cleanly, like cutting the ignition? Or does it stumble and misfire as it dies? What does the exhaust look like as it dies? Spitting fuel out of the carburetor sounds like the float level is too high, or the needle and seat are not sealing. Black smoke from the exhaust would tend to substantiate this.

Another thing that causes fuel to spit out the carb throat, is having a very restrictive exhaust. Had a '70's CJ-7 with a 304 that simply would not cooperate, and I saw fuel droplets hopping UP out of the carb like popcorn. Thought about it for three days before I had a eureka... took a sawzall and lopped off the exhaust just after the Y pipe, and it woke right up. Mouse crawled up into the catalytic converter and plugged it up really tight.

spitting a little out is common on those. is it getting too much down the carb? are the plugs wet?

I'm not sure if the hi idle solenoid is hot unless its running. I wouldn't think you would want the carb in fast speed position when trying to start. it may not get powered up until the machine makes power.

I'll try mine the next time i'm over there.
