Fordson F 1919 with Fordson E27N Manifold and Zenith Vaporizer/Carb
i have just gotten my fordson F started for the first time in 60 years. its pretty original, but it has a e27n carb and manifold on it (and 7 spoke wheels and a badly rebuilt tank). i will change it at some stage but for now i just want to get it to run propery.
i had a problem with too rich fuel. 2 gallons in 10 minutes start and stop. that is fixed now, and i can get the motor to calm down. needle valve is very sensitive.
what i cant do is get any response on the throttle. closed or open makes no difference whatsoever. once i get the tractor to a stable speed, i cant hardly touch the choke
once i get the tractor to a stable speed, i cant hardly touch the choke. i cant open the choke much or it starts running up too high. if i open the choke too much it dies. if i open the needle valve more, i am back at the 2 gallons in 10 minutes problem.
i am not sure what to try next. i can try and replace the diaphragm and replace my paper gaskets with originals, but have been told that that shouldnt influence it that much
