The last time Johnny said it was gonna snow...we got 2 feet of nasty and then another foot a day later. At work we sold every snowblower and every part for a snowblower that we had in stock...in 4 days. That was a complete winters inventory.
I used my skidsteer here at home but could only plow across the driveway. It was too much to plow the length of the driveway. I ended up going over to my mill and bringing up my D6 Cat to do a proper job.
Not going to tell you how much driveway gravel is now on what should be lawn.
The only thing I can count on is my trusty little 6.0 DJB. Thanks to you folks I no longer fear the wind and weather.
Good thing..we are supposed to get another storm mid week followed by another 1 on Friday.
Thanks for the heads up on the snow Johnny.
Regards Chris

I lived up there a little over 10 years about 50 miles East of BTPost. Part of the time off-grid and off the road system and enjoyed every minute of it (or at least I remember the good minutes). That was 30+ years ago now and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about it. I knew my closest neighbors, one 25 miles North and the other 14 miles South. I still visit often and wouldn't be too surprised if I do it again for a couple of months after I retire.

My wife did it.. She was complaining last week about not having a real Winter Already had a panic run on all the grocery stores: no eggs, milk, bread to be found. That little 4" we got last week was heavy, brought down some limbs, this one should be interesting. As long as there's no tornadoes or flooding involved, we'll be fine. I'm excited, like a kid just before Christmas Spent the whole weekend tweeking and tuning the big snowblower and getti9ng a few more gensets operational, not just my own JohnnyC, you aren't the only one having issues with junk in the carb.. I've started using yellow Tygon for lines that don't run anywhere near the exhaust

the last big snow I remember was in the early 70s
near 2 ft over a Saturday night
for "in town" it was a big deal

my sister was living in Chicago for the Bilandic Blizzard

when it comes to generating ones own power
uninformed, careless or stupid will kill you
we can fix only the first one

to ZAP! and CO I add a caution about fuel handling.
energy in any form can be dangerous.

Current prediction for my area in New Jersey is now 24 inches of snow with wind gusts up to 60 MPH. They said at the height of the storm we may get 4 inches of snow and hour.

TV says 16-20 inches

NOAA estimates 16 inches with wind gusts to 30 (blizzard). And 20 degs all day.
So dry snow and likely won't stick to trees , likely no outages.
Heavyest snow is 10 inches from 2pm-8pm

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...Type=graphical

Got to gas up and start the snowblower.
