Default Mustie1 Works On Mystery Briggs

Missing ID plate. 40s vintage gear reduction model. 3 part series. Maybe the Briggs gurus here can help ID despite missing tag.

Default Re: Mustie1 Works On Mystery Briggs

It looks to me like a Briggs 8, later from 50's. Appears to have aluminum head and squared off blower housing. The earlier ones had cast iron heads and the blower housing had a somewhat rounded top characteristic of many of the small Briggs of 30's and 40's.

Exclamation Re: Mustie1 Works On Mystery Briggs

You won't want to run that engine with the cylinder shroud missing - the cylinder will overheat!
