Default Wisconsin AKN Starting Problem

Hello all, I also have a AKN Wisconsin that I got about two years ago now. I went completely through it and lapped the valves and glaze braked the cylinder. I also rebuilt the carburetor as well and cleaned the magneto and the points and gaped them. Now the engine has incredible compression, an old fart like me is dead tired after six pulls trying to start this thing. Watching You Tube videos I see people getting there Wisconsin's started easily. So as this is my first Wisconsin, what am I missing? what are the carburetor adjustments? Any Magneto tricks? type of spark plug? If I use starter fluid it will start on the first pull but usually die. Then comes the "fun" of trying to restart.

Turn the engine slowly the direction it runs and when the mag clicks, see where the keyway on the crank is. It should be just past up (TDC). If the mag doesn't click, the impluse on the mag isn't working.

I clicks just fine, I think it is a carburetor setting perhaps.

See post #2.

When the keyway is up, that is TDC. The mag should impluse just past TDC.

Ok got a chance to play with the AKN and I can not see the key way but there is a casting on the flywheel that says D|C (Dead center?) anyway, just past that point is where there is the loud snap of the magneto.

You can't see the key way on the output shaft? If it fires just past TDC, it wont kick back when you are trying to start it.

Ooops my bad I was looking at the fly wheel side, I'll check it tomorrow, but I still know I was on top of the compression stroke.
