Default '48 Allis 'U'

This is my Allis U, which is my latest rubber tired restoration. It was basically a pretty sound tractor although it needed a new radiator core and tires. All sheet metal was complete and in good shape, and the notorious exhaust manifold stove was not broken or burned out!
The tractor was stripped down and all components checked, cleaned, repaired as necessary and painted. I made up a new wiring harness and installed new lights. Hardest part to find was a good original mag switch.
It turned out to be a pretty nice tractor and has been on a few tractor drives and parades.

Very nice job Phil, and a late model to boot! What year is this one?

Brian;
I also had a later one that I gave to my SIL to restore. By the serial number it looks to be a ,52. It was a very good $200 tractor from Reynolds.

Phil, wasn't there was a "break" in U production around the mid forties? As I recall, production dwindled during and after wartime. Late forties models are uncommon to say the least, while early fifties models are almost unheard of. You will have to tease us with some photos of the '52 sometime.
