Default '57 FORD 950 LP Questions

When I bought the tractor, it ran on vapor only. Vaporizor inoperative (cracked head. no coolant) and vacuum controlled regulator (VCR) was plugged with dirt and lp residue. Just straight 10#? pressure.

I've completely rebuilt engine and a couple of questions:
1. All the VCR parts are in working order - just plugged with dirt and grime. Is it practical to try and salvage my VCR by cleaning the diaphragms in the VCR? How?
Or ...where might I purchase a suitable replacement VCR? Most new are integrated with a carburetor. I'd like to keep the tractor as original as possible and exact replacement parts are rare and dear.
2. Where can one buy Water Pump seals?

What brand of LP equipment (carb & vaporizer regulator) is on there ? Bendix / Zenith I've seen a lot on Fords and most parts are available through Zenith distributor dealers. Some brands of LP equipment are obsolete bought out by other companies with no service parts available now. Impco and other brands out there can still get parts for yet. The diaphrams, gaskets and seals get old and leak you are dealing with flammable fuel replace them !

Also make sure the coolant fittings in engine block and on regulator and your hoses or lines are not clogged full of calcium deposits restricting flow. If so clean them or replace with new ones. Tractor parts outfits should have rebuilt exchange water pumps or kits.

If your Ford uses the old ENSIGN LP fuel system like my 1966 C-II Gleaner with a Allis-Chalmers G-262 power unit, a Century Vaporizer is the most compatible with the old Ensign system. You will also need a 66EP tapped elbow and a 4H-102E idle control valve when replacing a Ensign vaporizer.

You might also want to talk to Rob at Moulden Supply, 1-800-221-8467
