Default Onan MDJE wiring question...

I think I know the answer to this question, but I thought I'd check anyhow...
The exciter stator has a couple of wires that need to be routed to the control box. I can't remember how they were routed when I dismantled the genset, but I'm guessing that they were routed through one of the (many) openings that are around the outside of the main stator. The only other alternative I can think of is that they are routed through the vents of the exciter cover and then to the control box. Can anyone confirm that they get routed through the outside of the main stator?

The attached pic shows the wires from the exciter stator being lead back towards the main stator, and the main stator with the many through holes around its circumference.

Exciter wiring is threaded through the stator near the top between sections. Normally there is no reason to remove it when taking off the stator. Cheers Dan
It's always something simple.
