Hello:

This machine keeps popping back up. The owner mailed me again today to drop the price. Just when I was kinda past the idea of buying it. BAM! here it is again. Im just curious from a reliability standpoint will it be as reliable as my Marquis 5000? Any ideas. I exercise my generator often as power outages are very common here. Especially in the winter. Rest of the year I do run them with load at least 8 hours a month.

Of course he called you back. Who else is going to buy it other than a hobbyist? His only other choice is the scrapyard.

It may be more reliable than your 5,000 watt Marquis. It is exciter cranked, so no starter motor to fail. It is inherently regulated, so no voltage regulator to fail. Now think of the disadvantages: it's old and parts are not readily available. If it does break, you may be haunting Ebay for quite a while for parts. It weighs 750 Lbs so it pretty much has to be permanently mounted unless you want to use something like a boat or jet ski trailer. No small carts will handle this beast. Think about how you are going to move it. It is not what you would call fuel efficient, and will consume about 1 GPH with no load and over 2 GPH (some people here say 3 or 3.5GPH) at full load. So you will need a plan to keep it supplied with gasoline during a long power outage.

If you can pick it up cheap, it may be a backup to your Marquis, or use it during short periods of high demand. By cheap I'm saying somewhere a bit above the scrap price, maybe $100 or even $150.

Its on what looks like its original trailer. Ive seen one more on you tube that was on the exact same trailer. I was going to mount it in the same place as my 5000 marquis is now. I am skeptical of the marquis as I am convinced it has demons. lol
