It is one of those 30 mph paint jobs, standing close up, not so good. I need to pull it in this winter and re-torque the heads or replace the gaskets, leaking a little oil around them.

Not one of my favorite sets, 3-phase only so only 10 KW from the 2 120-V legs and the other leg is 208 (or some odd voltage).

It was one of a pair I bought, the other was a parts machine but the trailer was worth the trip and what I paid for the 2. Also wound up with several spare parts.

It did get quite a bit of use a few years back before they got power run to the club house at a shooting range. Many weekends it ran for 10-12 hrs. a day, though never loaded too heavy.

On this onan there is a switch on the lower left corner of the panel that is broken, could that have been a voltage selector switch? I don't have a pic yet but will try today.
I was looking at the jc on a trailer in the CL for sale section and noticed the switch on that one located in that area. The pic attached is the one for sale not 5he one I am looking at.

If that switch is still wired up. Do not turn it while running. You will get to see smoke and flame.

Or could add 2 more volt meters to monitor all phases at once.

But long as windings don't short can just monitor voltage on 1 phase and watch the 3 amp meters instead.

Can be done.
easier of you have the Onan winding data, but he EASA tables and formula most shops use will give you a reasonable winding.

It will cost what a rewind costs in your area.
Find a shop with a armature balancing machine before you ask if they can do it.
This is not common anymore.
Armature work is going the way of the do-do.

Find a local shop that does generator repair but not rewinding ask them who they prefer.... ( bring doughnuts and coffee for the guys in thanks for answering questions )

Once I fix the switch, and find gauge clear fronts for the gauges and clean it up I'll decide what to do with it. It's a good runner and propane.

I have read that somtimes onan used 6 or 12 wire heads instead of 4 wire heads and buried the extra wires. Should I look in the gen head for them?
