Exclamation 12HP Bessie running on propane with simple setup.

Yesterday I simplified my gas control setup for my 12HP Bessie and it now starts and runs much better. I added a multi-turn gas control valve in line with the main gas valve, which allows a much easier speed control, especially for slow running. Also now have the hot tube gas input as another input. Now the original single or actually a 1/2 turn valve is used as an on and off gas control. Anyway I'm still learning and just wanted to share my fun experience playing with my toys

You can also slow it down by adding more air to mix

What is serial number for it. I can get the shipping card for it.

I do have a ball valve in the air intake, and Tom thanks for the data you gave me on this engine several month ago. Thanks to you I have a copy of the shipping card and is dated 1909. This is turning out to be one of my favorite fun engines now that it's tamed and runs to suit.

Gate valve is what you want. Ball valve is hard to set same ever time. Gate valve you can count turns to get it the same

Tom I agree on using a gate valve, as I have on my Reid, however for some reason the Bessie seems less picky about the air intake setting since I've installed the multi-turn gas valve. Just a good reason to keep on playing.
